FIAP opening exhibits-center in Tehran

The International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) opens its first center for exhibitions in Iran at an art gallery in Tehran.

The International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) has opened its first center for exhibitions in Iran at the premises of the Persian Idea Art Gallery in Tehran.

FIAP, which is an international organization of national associations of photography, will open its official center for exhibitions today, May 27, with a solo photo exhibit titled ‘The Pearl of Cuba’ by Luxembourg photographer Romain Nero.

“Photography is my passion; it is life through the lens. With such a variety of people and places in the world, there are no limits to the type of images to capture,” said Nero, who is a member of FIAP and director of its financial services.

Nero will be present at the inaugural ceremony of the center, with his exhibit running through until May 31.

Another attendee at the opening ceremony includes photographer Riccardo Busi, who is the president of FIAP board of directors and its general secretary. He is also five times FIAP World Champion in Nature. In 2011, he won the 60th Anniversary FIAP Cup titled ‘Children of the World’ in Singapore.

Future exhibitions and dates at the new FIAP center have yet to be officially announced.

The International Federation of Photographic Art center in Iran has opened after 70 years since its establishment by Belgian physician and photography enthusiast Maurice Van de Wijer.
